The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) team specialized in empowering arts and culture, Georgia Council for the Arts, today announced the recipients of fiscal year 2026 Vibrant Communities and Cultural Facilities competitive grant awards to support organizations across the state, including in rural communities.

All of the locations in the film were shot in east Alabama, Columbus, or the Chattahooche Valley, including prominent locations such as the Chattahoochee RiverWalk and the Columbus “Rainbow Tunnel”. The film also received the top prize for the inaugural Columbus Film Fund Local Filmmakers Grant, and Rowe stated the team was “over the moon with it.”

Blumhouse bounces back with a solid sequel to a beloved fan original with no overpriced gimmicks ala M3GAN 2.0. Finally, a year where every other studio has rallied in some form or shape with horror, Blumhouse rightly gets its due.

Miller was also passionate about his alma mater, the University of Georgia. He helped shine a light on college filmmakers from across the state. The Back Light Student Film Festival recognized his talent and dedication to the world of cinema.

By dedicating a month to IP awareness, Georgia is sending a clear message: protecting creativity is essential to sustaining and growing the industries that make us a global entertainment powerhouse.

I’ve spent my career where creativity meets business in television, production, and now advocacy and I’ve learned that the only defense I ever truly mastered was heartfelt hope. Hope, belief, and passion are what drive creators to bring something new into the world. But as technology evolves, protecting that spark has become both more complex and more critical than ever.

We lost a good one yesterday. For me and many others Craig Miller was an icon of icons in Georgia’s film and entertainment industry, a true champion for creatives and a huge advocate of tourism and economic development in the state. Universally respected and endlessly compassionate. 

Miller was for eight years co-president of the Georgia Production Partnership, responsible for establishing and maintaining the Georgia Film Tax Credit, an incentive to attract productions to the state.
