Virgin River fans just got a very good reason to trade the couch for a movie theater seat and a bucket of popcorn! Benjamin Hollingsworth—who is best known as brooding fan-favorite Brady on the hit Netflix series—is stepping into full leading-man territory in The Christmas Ring, a new holiday romance that’s in theaters right now.
Hollingsworth has quietly become one of Virgin River‘s most beloved characters, helping the long-running drama rack up more than a billion streams as it heads toward its eighth season. On the show, Brady is the complicated guy you’re not supposed to root for, but then somehow do. In The Christmas Ring, he gets to channel that same intensity into a softer, very Christmas-movie kind of role as Ben Miller, a poetic antiques dealer who is impossible not to like from the moment he shows up on screen.
The story centers on Vanessa Mayfield, played by Jana Kramer, a military widow in Columbus, Georgia, who’s determined to find her family’s missing Christmas ring. The heirloom dates back to World War II and a discovery in France on D-Day, so the search is emotional before the movie even gets to the romance. When Vanessa walks into Ben’s antique shop looking for answers, the two start out as strangers on a mission and slowly slide into something that looks a lot like love! Kelsey Grammer plays Ben’s dad, whose own secret discovery threatens to throw everything off right before Christmas, and Jessie James Decker, Debbie Winans and Megan Ashley Brown round out the cozy cast.
