Film Columbus GA, played a prominent role as a presenting partner for Georgia Entertainment’s “From Script to Screen” event series at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival. The prestigious partnership put Columbus, Georgia in the spotlight at the world’s largest film festival, which ran from May 13 to May 24, 2025, and attracted over 350,000 filmmakers, financiers and entertainment executives globally.
“We were very proud to have the Columbus Film Office as a presenting partner,” said Randy Davidson, CEO and founder of Georgia Entertainment. “Through this partnership, we were able to hold first class events that attracted extremely qualified decision makers looking to film in Georgia and Columbus.”
One of the featured events, “Conversations & Croissants, presented by Columbus Film Office,” placed Columbus at the center of the discussion. Led by Columbus Film Commissioner Joel Slocumb, panelists included Josh Harris, a veteran entertainment banker turned producer and entrepreneur and president of Peachtree Media Partners; David Bianchi, award-winning producer and founder of Exertion Films; Maria Breese McLain, who along with husband Patrick McLain runs 3:33 Creative Productions; Laura Burvill, producer and COO of Ceenema; and Otto Aouita, video director at Ceenema and a multifaceted filmmaker, editor, and producer.
The collaboration aimed to highlight Columbus’ unique filming locations and local incentives to decision-makers from around the world. “The resources, locations and local incentive in Columbus makes it the perfect spot for many filmmakers especially in the indie film world,” said Jezlan Moyet, president of Georgia Entertainment.
Georgia Entertainment’s “From Script to Screen” initiative officially launched with a pre-Cannes send-off event in Atlanta before the delegation headed to France to represent Georgia’s film industry, including Columbus’s unique offerings, on the world stage.
